When the ACS-64s started showing up in Oakland, nobody was clued in to how anything worked, like how to apply/release the parking brake without catenary power. In addition, the m.u. hoses were lined up backwards from those on the diesels. Since they needed to be switched in the yard and added to outbound trains, much confusion and difficulty resulted. Things improved after a chance encounter with a Siemens rep provided some answers, no thanks to Mechanical or Operating management.
