So I stumble on this thread, and I'm interested in seeing what the feeling is out there, and I'm not surprised. Fear, and union mongering. Hint- none of what he is going to do is new. Thats what makes this so funny to hear comments like O, we're different, and the savings are already there etc. I work in Canada. We've lived it. And here it is... he is the smartest Railroader there is. Bar none. God help you if you think you can bullshit him on what to do, how to do it, or you do something inefficiently. Yes- he gets rid of jobs (mostly retirements btw)- but guess what- we still did the job. AND HE MADE US ALL RICH with stock. The only people he ever fires are usually the loudmouth bullshitters. Do your job, work hard, and you'll be right as rain- minus the unsafe, loudmouth bullshitters you used to have to suffer working with. Oh, and also by the way- your own management just kicked 1000 employees out the door BEFORE HE EVEN GOT THERE to try to show they can be efficient, and keep their own jobs. Talk about a clear sign to everyone that there is fat to cut. This is not mocking. I bought stock in CSX the second I heard he might land there. Dont be afraid- and embrace the fact that he will make you the industry leader and be proud to be there. He did at CN, he did at CP- and he's going to for you as well.
