The remaining 10%...what about all the people across America today that have NO intercity transportation available whatsoever, federally funded or not? Why should SOME people get a federal handout, while others make do on their own? Seems like when you make a choice to live in a very rural community (who most likely voted for Trump anyways), you choose to accept independence and that means not having the federal government subsidize a ride out of town (of which most people don't take advantage of anyways).
I don't agree with the POTUS on many things, but this is one decision that should have been made years ago. Very few countries in the world operate their trains like Amtrak's LD network for good reason - I'd rather see hourly trains from Portland to Seattle, than one train a day to Chemult, Dunsmuir, Libby or Shelby.
