Looks a lot like the same old BS
Great logic - 'it's just a tiny number in the [ overblown] budget'
So let's piss the money away
Blah Blah
If you want support, other than 'I like trains' [like the kid waiting to see Santa in A Christmas Story], come up with a plan that creates a stable business-like organization,
not a feeble POS that depends on uncertain funding congress after congress [ no matter who controls it].
Are there lessons to be learned from Conrail?
So far the lesson of Amtrak, as it exists after so many years, is that it is hopeless, helpless, hapless.
Perhaps the best thing possible is to let it die,
and then maybe folks will see a need and come up with something that can work.
