OP, I'll sign any petition to invest in long distance passenger trains, providing those trains are

(A) operated by the Class I carriers or other interested private parties, not the federal government,

(B) those operators are willing to do the due diligence to make those operations viable rather than the same ol' same ol', and

(C) a workable plan is in place to justify the receipt of either general tax subsidies, tax credits, or access to highway trust fund monies.


But if you want the same crappy Amtrak with it's crappy schedules and crappy service, forget about it.
