Let's be real here. Amtrak is but one of the many "social" programs that the Republicans have been wanting to kill for years. Now they have their chance ... unless their own constituents realize the consequences and let them know that there will be political consequences. So Bob's post is right on.
This is a train/foamer board: if any Congress or Senate critter even knows it exists, I'd be extremely surprised, and even if they do run across it, the high proportion of nutcases posting here would prevent it from having any credibility (at least to somebody not willing to dig through the muck for the few gems such as most of Bob's posts). So ... send letters, tweets, e-comments, whatever, but send them to the people who need to know. For realistic comments, this is NOT the place.
That said, there are times when it's not worth the effort. My Congressman is so far out in right field that he won't even listen to mainstream Republicans, and labels anybody who doesn't agree with him as an activist and terrorist. But then, I didn't vote for him; the Redder parts of the district did. So I'll have to concentrate on the Senate. Get those cards & letters going, boys & girls.
