Long ago (20 years or so) it was:

White: Foremen and mangers

Blue: Machinists

Red: Electricians

Green: Laborers

Orange: Carmen

Yellow: Sectionmen (MoW)

It was fairly easy to tell who did what.

Then along came a new CEO from outside the industry
who felt the different colors were discriminatory, so
he eliminated the colors and had everyone wearing yellow.

After that, nobody could tell what craft anybody was in.
