The whole idea of "watching the screen instead of looking out the window" is a little overblown. It's new, we're all trying to get used to what we're looking at.

In addition, with PTC the amount of time looking out the window isn't quite as necessary as before. The main reason to be focused ahead (under most situations) is for signals and road crossings. Both of which are covered by the PTC screen.

Remember, trains don't slow down in near zero visibility.
