I agree totally with too much technology becoming a bad thing, especially with motor vehicles ( and perhaps trains too ??? ) Like the Good Doctor, I am more comfortable with the feel of a certain knob or switch, so I can " find it " with my hand while keeping my eyes on the road. The Peterbilt I currently drive for pay, has a dozen stablemates at my employer. All the same on the outside, yet all different inside with 3 different dashboard and switch panels. Quite maddening I feel, to have to look for something as basic as the brake buttons; are they high mounted or low ???
The Automakers relentless pursuit of gadgets and switches on steering wheels, where my fat fingers inadvertently find the radio volume control at all the wrong times, is another reason I should have kept my 1972 Chevy pickup. I am also fond of telling the Safety Nazis who insisted on Anti - Lock Brakes, that every vehicle I've ever driven has anti - lock brakes, right there on the bottom of my foot !!!
