While I used "Pasco" in my comments above, I meant it as an area identification, rather than a BNSF railroad connection/destination. The UP line in question, as far as I am aware, does not have a direct connection for any BNSF train coming south from Spokane and wanting to rejoin BNSF track on the other side of the Columbia River at Pasco. There is a UP connecting track and bridge across the Columbia, but using that to get to Pasco would require a backup move.
The UP tracks continue south to a connection with the UP main crossing the Blue Mountains at Hinkle OR (more or less).
