First off, Bob2, that's my real name on the posts. NO, I am not a 40 something, I'm a 60 something, and my being upset with the legislation comes from many angles.
1) This was proposed and passed in a week. What happened to the must be printed 72 hours before being voted on law?
2) I also think that bribes to get votes (and that's what it is, no matter if the voter actually gains any monetary value for his/her vote) is a lousy way to run a government. I know it works that way, but it's still lousy.
3) I think the trucks should be paying MUCH more, this subsidy of their roads by the passenger cars is unfair to railroads.
4) I have antique cars, but only two drivers; most of my cars go nowhere each year, but the increase in licensing fees will make it much harder for me to hang onto them (I do NOT have a large income, I've had the cars for decades before they became "valuable"--although in reality, they aren't very valuable).
5) If so much of the current highway taxes weren't siphoned off to the general fund, we'd have the money for the rebuilding. Knowing how our legislature works, I think these funds will be tapped too.
