Or, in other words, your conspiratorial rantings, are just those of someone whining, after the fact, who hasn't actually followed this proposal for the last several months, as it was developed, and has no real idea at all about how all this "gubmint" process actually works...or your role in it?
All bills are published are generally published 72 hours in advance, and if a member of the legislature and/or their representatives staff know WTF they are doing, it's plenty of time to review key points, and assess the impacts on your constituents, In fact, they often even add and track additional amendments, until it is actually voted on. So this nonsense is yet another lame excuse and more whining, in feigned indignity and outrage about a process you neither are familiar with, nor seem to understand very well.
As to your bribery allegation, well taking bribes or direct payments as an individual member is, in exchange for votes, in fact a felony. Is money used to address constituent's supposed concerns a bribe?
Yes, there is lots of corruption, from campaign contributions, the attraction of "perks" like invitations to events paying speaking fees, future employment, and the like, results in plenty of side deals, to make contributors, and special interests like the "trucking industry" "happy" with the outcomes.
Yes, I've definitely worked in a system where too many members of Congress and/or the Legislature are often there for the easy political shakedown, in the go along to get along school of political finance, made about 100 times worse, when it was decided that throwing money directly at our legislator's was just "free speech" by our Supreme Court. But, since you were too lazy, too busy, or too uninformed about how this all works, to counter act that influence, by even bothering to contact your actual State representatives, with some of your worthwhile alternative arguments and/or demands, as their employer.....under our system, you just got the government that you deserve....for better, or worse....
The ACE project is a far better use of scarce transportation and rail funds, than most of the spending that's being wasted, thus far, on the CHSRA fiasco. The proposed ACE extension project actually meets some of our actual observed travel needs and deficiencies, for access from the Valley into the Bay Area, with the proof found in paralleling freeways that are already severely congested.
And, in response to another post, it appears that the CHSRA "runaway money train" will not be getting a nickel from this bill, which is good.
