Yes, I did talk to my State House Representative (actually his staff assistant--in fact, I talked to him today about something unrelated to this subject), so I didn't completely sit on my butt. I doubt my call "changed" his mind, he was already against it, but I think my call may have reinforced his belief that it was the correct position to take.
I know "backdoor deals" happen all the time; that doesn't make them legitimate or morally right. You're apparently claiming that "The ends justify the means."
My quote about passing legislation wasn't about this particular one, but I think everyone reading here knows which one it was about. And the quote has nothing to do with if one is for or against the legislation, but with the attitude of those purporting to represent us--ALL of us.
I'm sorry you didn't appreciate my light-hearted way of understanding that you and I have very different points of reference.
