That is most likely the training wage, while you are in school. Go do the homework, ask some of the Amtrak guys that run in your area. However remember that Amtrak has lost some sizable contracts in CA in the last few years. First was maintainence at Metrolink and after that the operating contract with Metrolink and Coaster. Amtrak is known to be over managed, and more than likely the "overhead" and money to pay for it had a part to play in loosing the bid. If there were to be a total end to Amtrak all those T&E folks have to go somewhere, and some of them have a lot of seniority. Andy
