Harley, if I were old(er) and semi-retired, and happened to live in that giant sprawl of humanity already, I'd probably give it some thought. But no.

Here are just a few glimpses of what it's all about. Pretty extensive route, with some sections that put the steam engine to hard work. We really enjoyed it years ago when we used to take Amtrak from Spokane to Portland, then MAX throughout the city and to the zoo:
