Rail question

On welded rail there is lot's of rail anchors and worries of sun kinks in the heat, but not so much with jointed rail, so the question, on a 39 foot section of 115 pound rail, how much length is gained for every 10 degrees rise in temp.? Is the small gap between rails on jointed rail enough to prevent sun kinks?
