The Mt. Hood Railroad did suffer extensive flood damage...with the majority of the damage occuring on the first half mile or so out of the Hood River depot and on the very upper end of the line just below Parkdale. The railroad got the damage in Hood River repaired in very short order, which got them back on their feet. The passenger trains now operate out to Dee, where they turn and head back for Hood River. I would be very surprised to see the railroad repair the line into Parkdale...statements out of the railroad at the time of the damage tended to indicate that they would need some sort of disasture relief help if they were to reopen that part of the line. and the emergency funds that the government made available could not be used on private projects such as the Mt. Hood Railroad.
We shall see how this developes.
