Each of the feature cars on the Sunset Limited had a theme. Beside the "French Quarter" first class lounge and the "Pride of Texas" coffee shop-lounge for coach passengers, you had the "Audubon" dining car with, as I recall, decor based on the work of naturalist John James Audubon.

The "French Quarter" lounges were among the first cars Amtrak had refurbished after it began operations in 1971. These became the feature lounges on that winter's Florida Special.

The two Sunset Limited cars at CSRM, for those who don't know, finished their active careers in the Southern Pacific office car fleet. I recall seeing and photographing them in June 2001 while visiting the CSRM complex. They were parked down by the old Central Pacific depot with E9 #6051.
