Coast Starlight 14 of 4/18: lead loco electrical fire

Yesterday's 14 was only 14'late when a problem cropped up between Oakland OKJ and Emeryville EMY. Engineer reported cab filling w/ smoke. Fire dept was called to meet the train at east end of the platform. Outcome was electrical problem and the loco was condemned. Took 6 hrs to arrange and replace bad AMTK engine w/ UP5253. #14 departed EMY station 6 hours late. Sure fouled up the morning capitol plan for UP. Cal-P
