UP 844 nor has SP 4449 has ever operated through those curves, they are too sharp. Only the UP 3985 has operated through there back in 2005 as it was able to negotiate them verses a 4-8-4. SP 4449 had to operate through Portland Union Station and north to back onto the UP main to Kenton to meet with UP 844 ten years ago when they operated the double header to Tacoma and Everett, WA.
For June, 4449 will reverse up to north Portland like in the past, use the wye there and return to Union Station to the train for departure northbound.
