Sims derailment

My late brother-in-law was a civil engineer for the Santa Fe and while hiking through Price Canyon we talked about a derailment on one of the trusses over Pismo Creek and the bridge was taken out or damaged. He said the Santa Fe would build a "shoe-fly" round the damaged bridge so trains could continue, albeit at a restricted speed. Is the room at Sims to do to do a "shoe-fly?"
