The line is closed from just north of the (downtown) Windsor Depot. I believe the crossing at Starr road needs some attention, and there are a few private crossings between there and the underpass of Route 101.

The near-term value proposition has changed a bit - the last 'live' spur at Nu Forest Products (lumber yard) will most likely get pulled up, as the owners are consolidating all operations to their Coverdale location (which has a spur just north of the vacant Cloverdale Station - the planned northern terminus for the SMART commuter operation.) The property was purchased by a developer who is going to build (yet another) hotel and housing. I don't envision Syar/Granite Rock ramping up production and digging up their spur any time soon.

The big 5-way intersection of Healdsburg Avenue, Mill Street, and Vine Street is in the midst of a rebuild into a roundabout, with major upgrades to the nearby underground infrastructure. The rails have been pulled from the street, but the plan includes restoring the crossing and the addition of gates where needed. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out, as the tracks become 100% NCRA-owned past the Depot, meaning the proverbial shoe is on the other foot, with SMART having to play second-fiddle to any freight concerns - aka spurs.

Another major operation used to exist on the north end of town just past Simi Winery, but that was also snatched up a few years ago for more housing. (No activity since - there's a cadre of locals that aim to keep any "growth" to a minimum.

Some minor repair (timber inspection/replacement) and possible backfill of the piers should be enough to get the bridge over the Russian River and into Healdsburg good enough - nothing's going to be flying through faster than 15mph anyway. All of the Healdsburg crossings have been upgraded, but there are a series of washouts between the fire station and Dry Creek Road. Anything north of there hasn't seen much activity aside from keeping the weeds from taking over.
