Yes,this was quite amusing in various places including most of the branch lines to the Oregon Coast. For example the line from Eugene to Coos Bay, which is due west geographically, was railroad Eastbound since it was going away from San Francisco. All the mileposts are miles from SF, and most still exist that way with their new shoreline owners.
