A few decades ago, IC (or was it ICG?) started what they called
"Rent-A-Train" for grain shippers in Illinois to move corn to
lower Mississippi River ports to be transloaded on ships for export.

It was basically just a unit train with assigned cars and power
(and caboose) that would shuttle back and forth from one shipper
to one destination.

The first train was advertised and had business cars on the rear
with shipper, railroad, and other people aboard and had press coverage.

Part of it derailed, so several wrecked cars were left, the train
was reassembled, and off they went with fewer cars. Later on in the
same trip, it derailed again, and more wrecked cars were left behind.

The train finally reached destination with about half of the cars
it started with. Maybe less.
