Empty coal departed yesterday evening at Helena after a quick passenger train like crew change. Train was crossing Carter St. and the slack ran in badly twice, then a third time and then bang, train broke in two just about a car from the grade crossing. After about 5 minutes with traffic backing up, the crew van radioed the fact of the break in two. Crew van picked up a trainman and the train was coupled back up, there were no broken knuckles. Photos later on the blog.
