It's been a topic for years, it seemed like a good idea, the freight house area was large, had
more parking and made sense from an operational standpoint. Once the seismic guys got involved
there was a fear that the tunnel work would collapse the church, collapse on itself due to the
unstable nature of the adjacent dirt, etc. The daylight, bridge, and approaches fix started out
around $3M and ended up nearly $10M. Seems like a lot but the state and county put nearly $6M
into the school reno at the South end of town.
