NWP question

I've seen a number of pictures taken at the former drawbridge at Wingo, on the NWP south of Schellville. I tried to drive in there once (Maffei Road, I think), but the road was in very bad shape and I came to a locked gate still a long way from the bridge. Is there another way to get in there? Thanks in advance.
