Spotswood is claiming that the reason SMART isn't running more trains is due to a crew shortage, due to not being able to fill the neccessary positions, due to pay issues and stuff and not due to a need for more trains.

He then goes on to claim that SMART can get a trainset from San Rafael to the north end of the line and back to San Rafael and turn it and send it north within two hours--says the 4:45pm departure from San Rafael, running as the first train of the commute fleet, could leave San Rafael on a second northbound trip by 6:45. This is simply not possible based on what I know of the line.

Spotswood also said he was a depot expert and recommended that the NWP San Rafael depot be torn down because there was nothing original about the depot, despite the iconic exterior still being largely intact, albeit with a fair amount of additions to it, none of which obscure the original platform with it's arcade, now enclosed with windows. To Spotswood's credit, when the people of San Rafael reject his promotion of the tear-down, he appeared at a history group's meeting, a group founded to oppose the tear-down of the depot, and gave them advice on starting up their organization and building a movement.
