Thank you for discussing this rationally and calmly and addressing the issues. I believe there is really something to what you say. In the final analysis the riders will only be paying attention to time. And I would have to question if "trip number" will even come into play. Likely it will not be displayed on the trains via a destination numberboard or on the liquid crystal screens on the exterior of the trains that are totally un-neccessary in themselves at the moment (trains go north or south, make all stops).

I guess I find the "trip number" approach a little too fancy for my tastes.
