SMART Trip Takers Ponder Ferry Connections

Another interesting article about potential riders trying to figure out how to use SMART's trips to commute to work or travel around on the weekends.

The gap in the commute schedule will always affect someone and this article covers that issue. One thing that is curious is that SMART has been billed as a Sonoma to Marin commute train. Yet many of the people interviewed for these articles are expressing serious interest in using a SMART trip with a ferry ride to get to San Francisco from Sonoma. This is a ridership that was underbilled, I feel.

But how long will it take? Up to two hours to get from Cotati to San Francisco! But the riders interviewed feel that, if feasible, the trip via the train and then the ferry will be much more comfortable than riding on a bus.

Ironically, this is what the first bus riders said as well once they lost their trips (called trains back then) and ferry service.

Please, to the very active and influential poster: no posts telling us to get a life, or that no one cares, or posting fake news about why there are gaps in the commute service (it's lack of engineers, not passing tracks as you keep saying) or off-topic posts meant to show off your out-dated knowledge about the SMART EIR. Actually, I would ask you to stop posting on these threads please.
