Yep, so such thing as California State Police since 1995 when it was merged into the CHP. Before that they were security/protection for state buildings and state officials. So if you saw a CA State Police it was before 1995 and it was a rare sighting...most likely a high-level state official was nearby/passing by. Either that or someone is full of it.
