I remember a photo in the Santa Rosa paper showing the last train to Sausalito (saved the clipping, but can't find it just now). Sticks in my mind that it was 1971. An SW1500 brought a couple of cars to be part of Zack's restaurant and bar. Later,someone scrawled "Who killed Karen Silkwood?" in big letters on one of them, and it stayed that way for years.

I was told that SP was able to abandon the line by getting Handi-Cup to move their plant from Sausalito to Detour (where the tracks went under 101 just south of the Larkspur drawbridge). Of course, in a few years that was all gone too.
