Originally named Zelzah, then North Los Angeles. In Feb-March 1938 NLA was the farthest south that coast line passenger trains got, as the LA River washed out the Second Crossing bridge next to Figueroa . LA was isolated for a day or so until airplanes and ships could get back in service, roads and rails took longer.
