How incredibly sad that this historic part of railroad history has been burned, apparently by low-life vagrants who were squatting in the building.

My last up-close look at the Redondo Junction tower was back in February 2002, just a few months after is ceased operations and when the Alameda Corridor was in it's final stages of completion. It was fun to ponder how much railroad action and history passed by the tower...

According to the Alameda Corridor Historic Property Survey Report, Redondo Junction
Tower forms a part of a Historic District considered eligible for the National Register
of Historic Places.

Maybe it still can be saved and restored.
