Interstate 5 and Sound Transit

Yesterday afternoon I chose to try Interstate 5 Northbound thru downtown Seattle so that I could experience the designer's skillful throttling of four lanes into two lanes. Yes, it is to be avoided. On the lighter side, I appreciated seeing Sound Transit's contractor's very large crawler crane perched on a column between the primary lanes of Interstate 5. Spectacular. Worth a sidetrip.

Then this Morning's Seattle Times has a closeup photo of the contractor's crane that hoists and places the elevated railway segments. Further adding to the photo is a dumptruck perched on top of a column. (really on the ground, beyond)
