These owner operator contracts are designed to put the burden of cost away from the companies ( independent contractors) and this is one example of how companies can use the independent contractors) contracts for their own person gain... This is also wide spread thru out the businesses...And it is a ruthless way to do business.
This should have been stopped long ago, but money pumped into congressmen and senators for their next election keeps this going, meaning the people who are under the contracts have to suffer all that they companies can give them.....there is no money being pumped into SSI,there is no retirement plan or sick time or vacation...When I was inspecting repoed trucks, some had over a million miles on them and smelled horrible, so I know what these guys went thru.....
