Not to excuse anything Doug did but he had some major upheaval in his life. I believe it was summer of 1960 or '61, with Doug watching, his father shot and killed Doug's mother then turned the gun on himself. No matter what, it had to affect Doug and his dealings with other people later in his life.
There is one error in the obit---he graduated from Lincoln high in San Jose in 1964 not 1963 as stated, we were in the same class.
I had last seen him at the time of the WRM/WP museum equipment move. We had been friends for a very long time and I am saddened at his passing. Getting to be fewer and fewer of the old guys around and demonstrating the problem of being one of the few, is the few keep getting fewer.
