A loader and its trailer lay twisted and scattered next to the railroad tracks south of Albany at Beta Drive at about 2:45 Tuesday afternoon after they were struck by the Amtrak Coast Starlight passenger train.
The bed of the trailer landed about 63 feet from the point where the train struck it, and the loader, an Avant 640, was a twisted wreck. The train was not affected, and was back on its way by 3:12.
There were no injuries.
