After a couple of negative experiences with Chicago area train excursions in the 1990s during very hot weather, I decided to avoid summer excursions in much of the country.
In August 2012, I attended a professional conference in Oregon, expecting some relief from the very hot weather where I live in the mid-Atlantic. Was disappointed by the hot weather there as well.
While no one can predict the temperature in Oregon six months in advance, increasingly hot weather is a reality for anyone paying attention.
Excursion trains should be scheduled for other times of the year.
