Who is shooting in Colton and why?

On The Other board it was reported that hoodlums shot at moving locomotives in the area of
Colton and Rialto:

"Late last night reports developed that the cab of 1996 was shot at south of Bench as the
train was descending down the Silverwood Cutoff. ... I'm also hearing that UP 7098 North
(MWCRO-01) was also shot at as it was preparing to meet 1996 at Slover."

The story of the derailed Amtrak train near Tacoma has gone around the world, but I can't
find a single mention of this story in the news. Go figure, the news media doesn't give a
rip about railroad workers.

Anyway, is this a rough area or something? What the Hell is going on? Gangs? Poverty?
Stupidity? I thought this kind of stuff only happened on the wrong side of Baltimore or
Chicago.

I'm a little shocked.
