That big trackside berm

Visiting Winter Park some years ago (from my Nebraska home) I made it a point to check out that "station" site for the ski train. And I've been mystified, ever since, about that long, high berm along the south side of the tracks with its tunnel passageway(s) providing access to the ski lodge area. It's obviously not natural, but purposefully constructed. So can someone explain that purpose? Many thanks!
