The purpose of PBCAHSR is not to make money nor to compete with airlines between LA and SF. It is to provide commute service enabling real estate exploitation, i.e., sprawl.

Earth to Jerry Brown: another LA in the high desert IS Global Warming.

En revanche in France Emmanuel Macron wants to ban all gas and diesel vehicles by 2040 and meantime cut way back on nuclear which currently produces a great part of France's electricity. You really think solar and wind(would you like to have a grinding windmill farm in your backyard?)can generate enough juice to replace fossil?

Live in a cave or get roasted in a skyrise hovel well beyond the reach of any hook and ladder truck? Jetsons' rocket packs required like flotation vests?
