While the approaches were single track the steel sections were wide enough for double track. Even today if you look at Google Earth you can see the wide steel sections with the existing track located on the north half of the bridges.
That train order board wasn't the easiest to see until you got closer. I think I only got orders there once, which I doubt I saved, setting up a meet at Russell. I remember this simply because it was such a strange order setting up a meet between two trains both cleared as "eastward" (we were cleared "eastward" at Dumbarton).
