Translating: Bare table is a railfan term for a train of empty intermodal stack train cars. When not loaded with stacked containers they resemble a "baretable". On Union Pacific we called such trains "repos" short for repositioning. Loaded traffic is not equal in each direction so unloaded cars have to be relocated to a terminal that needs empty cars for loading.

I assume a number of empty intermodal stack cars were stored at Castroville and this train will pick them all up and take them to Los Angeles for loading.

Before departure and when the cars are coupled with the locomotives the train airbrakes are tested to make sure they are functioning throughout the train. The train then departs under permission from the dispatcher. CPs are signal and switch control points.

The Train has two diesel locomotives, model type SD70s with number 3909 as the front leading unit carrying the engineer and conductor.

Amtrak 11 is the southbound passenger train, the Coast Starlight, which will pass the waiting freight train in Salinas, south of Castroville.

The ICVLC17 is the symbol of name of the freight train meaning it is an intermodal (I) train that originates in Castroville (CV) and is going to Los Angeles Container terminal (LC) on the former shop area near downtown Los Angeles. The number 17 is the date the train starts.
