Whenever you see a lot of mouse droppings around, it's time to fumigate!

But who the he!! let the anti-rail mice in here in the first place.

BRT along Geary is a costly and stupid idea, just as it usually is most anywhere else it has been tried. To be effective in reducing travel times as desired here, a separated R.O.W. is essential. But the up front capital costs of such are staggering (equal to light rail). Moreover, the plain sorry fact is that high ridership bus corridors are also extremely expensive to operate. Besides which, anything at street level takes away desperately needed lane capacity.

High capital cost accompanied by very high operating costs are the norm for BRT. Whereas, with light rail, or any type of rail transit, capital costs are only slightly higher, but operating costs are much much lower than BRT. Basically, it's pay me now - or with BRT, pay me now and pay me again later.

Much of this is due to the much lower driver to passenger ratio of any rail option vs. BRT. And trying to improve that with multi-articulated buses trying to traverse narrow San Francisco streets, sure did bring loud guffaws at the bus yard - just more big mouse droppings from little mice.

So if the citizenry refuses the rail option? - Well then, they just will have to eat cake - in the form the existing high costs, slowness and crowding; or by paying through the nose for the BRT option - now and forever - and having even worse traffic jams while they are at it.
