What does sound rationale thinking have to do with achieving the consensus and compromise necessary to make reasonable and successful decisions in a complex world? That is no longer relevant you see.

This is the brave new world of unscripted reality shows, based on phantasmagoric tales told by charlatans, for the entertainment of the mass audience, and the adrenaline rush of fifteen minutes of fame.

This is not rationale republican governance based on the ideal of public consensus, the rule of law, reason, and science. This is the world of nihilistic anarchism, of self promotion and self delusion, without regard to any public good, by self promoting mountebanks, big and small. Which are at the local level, often from the ranks of these self styled "soap box" messiahs like this fool, with no real education, experience, or track record, in any skill of note, but with a devoted internet following.

This is the brave new world where outright lies, antisocial behaviors, and ludicrous claims are the fully debased currency of our political discourse, from the loudest, most obnoxious, useless, and demagogic eunuchs, of our political fringes. This is the new reality today, all the way from Santa Cruz to Washington D.C..

So welcome to the world where all public decisions, big and small, will hence forth be made by irrational fools by promoting and pandering to the fear and superstition of whatever mob they can conjure up with such tactics at the moment.

And, ain't it just working out wonderfully.........
