Lathrop connections Fresno line to Altamont question

A recent thread contained the statement that there is no direct connx between NB traffic coming from Fresno (former SP), and the Altamont (former WP) line. While that appears, per Google maps, to be correct, it would seem that if necessary a train that needed to make that connx and go west could, at Lathrop, first go north on the SP track, back down, then east through the wye, then go west on the WP track. With todays' UP ops, is that feasible?

If not, it also appears that such a movement that had to go west on the old WP could go into Tracy (from Lathrop), head south briefly on the former SP Westside line, then on the connx just south of Tracy onto the WP line.

Just curious whether either scenario might work if it was necessary to take a special movement, like the military train that eventually went down to Camp Roberts.
