I don't trust hump or "Buda" type derails. The best are split point types. I have seen engines and cars bounce right over Buda type with no problem. Most of them are cast and shatter to bits.
They should have put rail skids under the first car and chained the truck to the rail.
There was one hump type on the SP main, approaching the Steel Bridge in Portland. Knew a few guys that got by the red signal and bumped right over the derail. Just broke it and everything was still on the rail.
