Took a weekend trip to Stevens Pass with my dad in the Spring of 1967. Just west of Scenic where the final spike was driven, he shot an 8mm movie of a short freight pulled by a lone GP-9 in fresh Sky Blue paint. Another memorable event was watching the repaving of old hiway 2 from Scenic to the summit of the pass. The old route passed very close to Tye (Wellington). This was to be the detour for all traffic while they widened the west side of the current hiway 2.
