I was actually on the Amtrak train when this happened. Riding from LA to Santa Barbara. Accident happened in Santa Barbara.

It was very tragic. The train sat for about an hour while the conductor and engineer worked with Sheriff. The crew was visibility upset.

It was a transient who lived next to the tracks. In the area that this occurred, there are many transients living in the bushes next to the tracks. The engineer said he thought it was a suicide. This is another example why Santa Cruz will not have a big-ass train running through our community.
